Start the Military Symbol Generator in Browser

To get started, open symbol.army in your browser, or click the ‘Start App’ button in the top right corner of this page. No account and no installation are needed.

Main Window

The Military Symbol Generator opens directly in the Main Window. It shows the current symbol in the centre — when you open the app for the first time, this is an empty friendly ground unit.

Hint: Before you create your first symbols, check the application language and the Work Mode under Options. The Work Mode selects the symbology library: International (MIL-STD-2525C, the default) or Extended (MIL-STD-2525C plus the Swiss country-specific symbols).

Functions in the Main Window

The buttons around the symbol open the editors; the buttons in the footer act on the current symbol. Most buttons show their name when you hold the pointer over them.

The numbers in the picture follow the rows of the table below.

Sub-Windows

The Search, the Symbol Editor and the Point Editor open as sub-windows in place of the Main Window. Each has two buttons in its title bar:

The Options apply every change immediately and have no apply button.

Your Work Is Kept per Browser Tab

The current symbol stays in the browser tab: a reload keeps it, a new tab starts again with the default symbol. There is no gallery to save symbols in — to keep a symbol, share it via URL and store the link, or download it as an image.
