How to create a Military Symbol
We try to make the creation of a military symbol as simple as possible. Follow these steps to create your first unit, installation or equipment symbol in symbol.army .
1. Select Base Symbol
The core of every military symbol is the Base Symbol which is the graphic representation of a unit, equipment, installation… The MSS Symbol Search sub-window provides the functions to find the Base Symbol.
Click on the MSS Symbol Search icon to open the Search window.
Add the name of the symbol according to the definition in the military symbol standards (e.g. MIL-STD-2525).
The search results are listed and a Base Symbol can be selected (click on symbol).
Close the Symbol Search sub-window using one of the following two options:
Icon Function Close the sub-window and add the selected Base Symbol to the Main Window Go back to Main Window (no changes applied)
2. Add/Modify Attributes
MSS Symbol Editor window provides a simple interface to edit symbol attributes.
Click on the MSS Symbol Editor icon to open the sub-window.
The symbol attributes are tabulated in pulldown menus in header of the window. Select a specific attribute to activate or change.
To get more information on a specific attribute click on the icon.
Close the MSS Symbol Editor sub-window using one of the following two options:
Icon Function Add the Military Symbol with the selected attributes to the Main Window Close the “MSS Symbol Editor” and go back to the Main Window (no changes applied)
3. Add Modifiers
MSS Symbol Editor window provides all supported Modifiers of a Base Symbol.
Click on the MSS Symbol Editor icon to open the sub-window.
The symbol modifiers (text-modifiers) are shown around the Base Symbol. The modifier position is based on the definition in the military symbol standard:
Click on the info element to receive more information on a specific symbol modifier.
Select the modifier to add text.
Close the MSS Symbol Editor sub-window using one of the following two options:
Icon Function Add the Military Symbol including the added Modifiers to the Main Window Close the “MSS Symbol Editor” and go back to the Main Window (no changes applied)
